“We don’t just sing to you, we sing with you.”

“The key ingredient is the connection.”

— Becca Sasha Gastfriend, Founder

The seed for Bridge To the Soul

was first planted during Becca’s earliest performance experiences, in her grandfather’s nursing home dementia unit. Becca was willed to find a way to reach her grandfather who upon arrival would appear deflated; shoulders slumped and head down. She tried many tactics but nothing worked as magically as singing. “I got to see my grandfather light up with each visit. The experience made us both more alive.”

In 2018, Becca returned to her roots and began singing one-on-one to seniors in New York City. The joy a warm smile and familiar melody brought to each home greatly inspired Becca.

In 2020, Becca founded Bridge To The Soul, performing outdoors at senior living centers in the Boston Area as well as through one-on-one virtual singing sessions for isolated seniors. In 2022, she joined forces with vocalist and senior companion Charlotte Jacobs to grow Bridge to the Soul. To this day, the two are passionate about bridging generations and reaching seniors through a shared love of music.

How does it work?

  • One-on-one session

Schedule a one-on-one session virtually (anywhere in the country) or in-person in New York City or Upstate New York where we strive to establish a personalized, engaging, and meaningful connection through music.

  • Personal repertoire

We customize the repertoire to cater to each client’s preferences. The songs range from jazz standards to show tunes and can span multiple languages.

  • Interactive

We engage with a versatile blend of performance, sing-a-long, call-and-response, improvisation and movement.

Becca and her grandfather

Music can lift us out of depression or move us to tears - it is a remedy, a tonic, orange juice for the ear.

It can provide access, even when no medication can, to movement, to speech, to life.

Music is not a luxury, but a necessity.

- Oliver Sachs
